Ecological conditions
The village Kiten is situated in a comparatively ecologically clean region. There are no heavy or light industry enterprises or big harbours near the resort. The resort lies in the immediate vicinity of the natural park "Strandja", made in 1995. It covers a territory of 116 133 hectares and is one of the biggest in the country. Park "Strandja" includes the reserves "Sil kosiya", "Lopushna" "Vitanovo" "Tisovitza", the historical place "Petrova niva"

It is made to preserve the unique vegetation consisting of multitude of endemites and relicts like downy oak, eastern beech, eastern durmast, black hornbeam, manna-ash, horse-chestnut treelike juniper, wild jasmine, Strandja’s periwinkle, Armenian oak, wild gram, wild fig-tree and other. The park "Ropotamo" is close to Kiten too. It was declared for reserve in 1940, was changed in 1956 and since 1962 is a National park. It spreads over the mouth of the river Ropotamo and has a total area of 847 hectares. Within its borders there are 4 reserves "Zmiiski ostrov" (Snake island), "Morski pelin" (Sea mugwort), "Arkutino", "Vodnite lilii" (Water-lilies). It is aiming the preservation of the typical forest groups of dense and lowland forests, the vegetation elements from neighbouring phytogeographical regions – Mediterranean, Front Asian, Pontian kinds and groups of endemites and relicts, rare psammophytes /sand-lily/ climbing plants (similar to lianas), The nature is extremly beautiful and attractive. There are a lot of little marshes, bizarre rock formations /the Lion’s Head/, in marooned old river-beds has developed characteristic plant and animal life, the beaches are vast, the sand dunes – wonderful and the scenery – picturesque. The ecological conditions in the region are very good, which offers great opportunities for the tourism prosperity. Kiten attracts many tourists with the typical summer sea recreation but the combination with the reserves and parks could be a magnet for more visitors. The tourists prefer Kiten because of the clear sea, the beautiful woodland massifs
and the main goal is all this to be preserved and Kiten to retain its fame of one ecologically
clean sea resort
